Please turn in any field trip money to my substitute or to Mrs. Brown before Spring Break. I am out on bereavement leave due to the death of my father in law. Please put your names on envelopes and checks to facilitate better record-keeping.

March 25, 2010

Everyone- we need the fundraising cards or money back by tomorrow or Monday. We haven't received many checks or cards and we'd really like to see as many kids as possible go on the trips. (French classes will go on May 17 OR 27 to the Melting Pot.) Please email me with any questions.

Spanish I

Spanish I students have completed their Spanish food diaries as an introduction to meals, foods, and beverages. These grades will be entered in the next couple of school days. In my 7th grade class some students will be completing this for homework. It is a big grade so please bring these in on Monday completed!

French I

We are learning to tell time and discuss our schedules. Students have also been working on conjugating "er" verbs and will soon start on "re" and "ir" verbs.

Spanish II

They did a fantastic job with their vacation projects and wrote about their vacations and those of their friends IN THE PAST TENSE. They are catching on quickly to the preterit (past tense) and we will be discussing the environment and recycling, etc... in upcoming units.

French I and Spanish I (8th grade)

Bonjour! Buenas Tardes!

French I

While we are missing Juliette (our student who left for Richmond) we did have a great day, today.

Everyone finished their new vocabulary lists on time (YEAH) and the students receiving fundraising cards for a French fieldtrip at the end of May. We will be visiting the fondue restaurant The Melting Pot as part of our food unit. Students have received 5 coupon cards to sell at a cost of $10 each. They MUST either sell them, or return them to me. (Checks made to WMS) If they sell all of their cards, I don't anticipate them having to shell out any more money for the fieldtrip. If we raise more than we need, we will use the funds for our end of the year fete! If you have any questions, please email me.

Also, they have a quiz on 'er" verbs on Monday. I'm sent some review sheets via email. Please email me if you need another copy. We did them in class some time ago, but students may need additional review. We will review some in class on Monday before the quiz, but I don't think that will be enough to get them ready for the test by itself.

I also handed out a new Bingo sheet today, for homework. It is due on April 1, the same day as the new vocabulary test.

Spanish I

Students took a vocabulary quiz today and got their new list of vocabulary words, as well as a new Bingo sheet (due on April 1 the same day as the vocabulary quiz). We are starting the food unit and will be having a Spanish culture day in a couple of weeks. Students should start thinking about what Spanish/Hispanic/Latino cuisine they would like to bring in for extra credit. I will send home a letter next week with the date and guidelines.

Students also were given their coupon cards earlier this week- a fundraiser for our Spanish fieldtrip at the end of April. Please send the cards or the money back by March 26. Thank you.
